There is something special about a blank stage—the quiet before the music starts, the anticipation before the first guest arrives, and the potential for a thousand different stories to be told. At the North Garden Theater, we believe that every great story deserves a solid foundation.

That’s why we are thrilled to pull back the curtain on our latest upgrade: a brand-new, high-performance floor designed specifically for our historic St. Paul space.



Why This Floor Matters

While our 20-foot ceilings and industrial-chic aesthetic get a lot of the spotlight, the floor is where the real action happens. Whether it’s a couple’s first dance, a high-energy performance, or a corporate gala, we needed a surface that was as tough as it is beautiful.


We chose a Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) system from VT Industries, featuring a rigid Stone-Polymer Composite (SPC) core. It’s built to handle the foot traffic of a 150-guest celebration without breaking a sweat.


Performance Meets Comfort

We didn’t just pick this floor for its looks. We chose it for the experience of our guests and performers:

  • Acoustics: The floor features an integrated IXPE Acoustic Foam underlayment. This significantly dampens footfall noise, ensuring the focus remains on the music or the speaker—not the sound of people moving around.

  • Safety & Comfort: The surface is slip-resistant and provides better impact absorption than bare concrete, making it much kinder to dancers’ joints and actors’ feet.

  • Sustainability: It is GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions. This means better indoor air quality for everyone who walks through our doors.
